About Lindsey

“Until you have given up your self to Him you will not have a real self..."

Lindsey Kane has learned this reality and taken it to heart.  As you listen to the words of her songs, it is amazing how many of them might just relate to seasons of your own life.  She is a gifted song-writer, worship leader, singer and musician who has a knack for getting straight to the heart of the matter in an engaging and compelling way.

Lindsey loves life and she loves people.  God has placed in her heart a desire to make others feel special, especially women.  One of the ways she is doing that is through her “Measure of Beauty” campaign.  God gave her the words and music to this song in college and she has had the privilege of sharing it with thousands of women as God has opened the door through different venues to share His words for true beauty.  Lindsey says, “The reason I am so passionate about this is because I know what it’s like to struggle throughout the day and doubt who you have been created to be.  I pray that God will remind you that He has formed you in His image.”  The words from the song “Measure of Beauty” are directly from scripture – Psalm 45:11, Psalm 139:14, and Song of Solomon 4:7 – and so Lindsey is absolutely confident of the message God has for his children, especially Daddy’s little girls.

Lindsey’s sound is unique.  It is a mixture of soft intimate vocals on the piano and then gritty raw vocals on the guitar with an acoustic pop/rock feel.  It’s unlike anything you’ve ever heard before.  Watching her live in concert, you are captivated by the purity of her heart and her boldness to speak truth as she commentates.  Her humor wraps it all together in a package that engages the audience and helps them to feel like they are a part of every song with her.  The wisdom she shares is beyond her 24 years – she is incredibly anointed.  Of the songs she writes, Lindsey says, “God inspires all of my music and I believe that He gives me all the songs.  I love traveling all across the United States with the message of bringing glory to God and passion to people.  I think we were created to bring glory to God, so I’m trying to do that through music.”

Lindsey Kane’s goal is to bring glory to God and passion to people speficially through leading worship at all different kinds of events across the country. She hopes to challenge worshippers to worship in Spirit and in Truth, as God desires. Lindsey says, “God has given me a deep passion to lead people in worship to His throneroom, past the outer courts and into the Holy of Holies. He is there waiting for His children to lift their voices to Him in authentic worship.”

Lindsey began her relationship with Jesus at the age of 8 when she asked Him to be her Lord and Savior.  She has been learning to walk with Him and let Him live within her since that time.  Lindsey says, “I am in love with my Savior and Lord Jesus.  I was created to worship Him everyday.  By His grace, He has given me the passion of worshipping Him through song.”

She grew up in Midland, Texas but moved to Austin, Texas with her family when she was a junior in High School.  It was one summer after that move that she decided to teach herself how to play the guitar.  Within one week of learning, she wrote her first song.  She started playing guitar and learning the typical praise and worship chords.  She kept writing songs and playing really small coffee houses as God opened doors.  She smiles as she thinks on the days when she sang on praise and worship teams to “…try and get beyond my fear of singing in front of people.  Now I do it for a living!  God has quite the sense of humor.”

After high school, Lindsey left Austin to attend college at Texas A&M University.  It was there during her Sophomore year that she heard God’s call to full-time ministry.  While finishing her college education, God opened the door for her to begin singing, playing and performing almost every weekend around the state.  And once she graduated in December 2004, she accepted God’s call and took the leap of faith to jump into full-time ministry. Some of Lindsey’s noteworthy accomplishments include winning the KLTY 94.9 Rising Star contest in 2003 out of 600 applicants. She was chosen to perform at the Gospel Music Association’s Music in the Rockies “unsigned artist” showcase and placed as the 1st runner-up in the vocal competition. Lindsey was also the 1st runner-up for the regional Exalting Him! talent search contest. She has performed on the Jim Bakker Show and the 700 club. She has also had the opportunity to open for several national Christian acts: Delirious, Grits, BarlowGirl, Paul Coleman Trio, Shane and Shane, Bebo Norman, Mark Schultz, Erin O’Donnell, and others. The title track from her latest record “Satisfied” was included in KLTY’s top 50 songs of 2005.  To date, God has inspired Lindsey to write over 100 songs.

Now living in Austin again, Lindsey is on the road full-time traveling wherever God takes her all across the country. She has had the opportunity to sing, teach, and/or lead worship at conferences, retreats, seminars, events and camps for men and women of all ages all across the country. Lindsey says, “Each day is a new day where I get to wake up and realize all over again that I have the best job in the whole world, because it’s not even a job, it’s a calling!”

What People Are Saying

Lindsey's CD just blows me away. If this doesn't bring you closer to God, then you're either lost as a goose, or you are already in His presence. ...I'm proud of her and she isn't even my daughter. But we would definitely consider adoption in her case! Lindsey's music is a gifted, passionate rendering of praise. . .awesome music that directs us toward an awesome God ! I love Him more because of Lindsey's giftedness."

- Jeff Loomis (director of congregational ministries-first evangelical free church)

"You hear about people who "never meet a stranger"? Well they invented that phrase for Lindsey Kane. Lindsey felt like an old friend from the first time I met her, and regardless of how long the gaps are between seeing her, I think it will always feel that way. Lindsey has an enthusiasm, commitment and passion about her ministry that is rare among the artists I encounter. It's refreshing and at the same time, challenging. An experience with her will bring that same refreshment and challenge to your own church or organization."

- John Mays (Centricity Records)

"Hi Lindsey! I hope you are having an awesome summer! I actually wrote you an e-mail a while ago but just recently realized it didn't make it to you! I had just wanted to thank you first for the copy of "Measure of Beauty" that you had brought by the Breakaway office for me. I really appreciated your thoughtfulness and kind words of encouragement in your note. I enjoyed the song so much...some of my favorite lyrics were: "there is no flaw in you", "beautifully and fearfully made are you, wonderfully and cheerfully formed are you", and "I will give you eyes to see, the way that only I measure beauty."...AWESOME! And the piano is just beautiful too!. What's funny is that just before you came by that week I had been wanting to contact you somehow to tell you how much the Matte household had been enjoying your cd. It really is so great Lindsey and I just wanted to encourage you in what you are doing. One of my favorite songs is "Satisfied":)! I so enjoy the passion and strength of your voice and the sense of sweet personal fellowship with the Lord from which your music obviously comes. Anyway, just a little note to say thank you for the single, and keep pressin' on doin' what your doin':)! We and breakaway are blessed by you! His, Kelly"

- Kelly Matte (Breakaway Ministries)

"Kelly and I listened to your CD this morning! WOW! It is great! We both looked at each other and went "whoa! this is good". The quality of recording and music is wonderful. Be encouraged and be invisible!"

- Gregg Matte (FBC Houston Senior Pastor)

"Lindsey Kane is an artist full of life, music and very obviously, God. She has a strong voice and an evident tender heart. She communicates more than mere words in her music, but a strong sense of spirit and love for God. Lindsey will be gaining an ever growing audience, as she just continues to be her God-given self. As an artist she has a true message of God's love."

- Phil Keaggy (world renowned guitarist)

Lindsey is one of the most transparent performers in the world of Christian music. She has the rare combination of passion for Christ, humor and eloquence. Her songs penetrate your soul and allow your mouth to sing words your heart has been unable to articulate. You truly will be moved to tears and uproarious laughter when Lindsey plays for you because she is really playing for Jesus. Lindsey is a shot of Red Bull in an Ensure world.

- Jinny Henson (Christian Comedian)

"You come across very very few artists who just who can just "let go and let God". Lindsey personifies the phrase beautifully in her music and writing".

- John Butler (VP of Curb Records)

"I have had the honor of watching Lindsey lead worship, speak and invest in young girls' lives for the last two years. She has the ability to interact with people of all ages. She leads worship with her beautiful voice and words of wisdom. Her actions, words and songs indicate that she is a true picture of a Godly woman. I believe in Lindsey and her ministry. God has truly gifted her in a unique and special way. The girls at Prestonwood will never be the same after spending time with Lindsey. Every year they ask if she will be back for our annual retreat. When you meet and talk with Lindsey, you will sense her authentic heart and love for the Lord. She truly is s young woman with a heart for serving the Lord!"

Words from Lindsey

I had the incredible opportunity of growing up in a Christian home with strong Bible-believing parents who trained me up in the way I should go. They took me to church with them as often as possible and I loved the Lord from an early age. When I was 8 years old, I was trying to fall asleep one night, when all of the sudden I saw a huge light cover my entire ceiling. I still remember that moment as if it was yesterday. That night, I saw the face of Christ on my ceiling! I know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s true! I began crying because initially it scared me so I ran into my parents room and told them what had happened. The following morning my parents walked me through what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God who died for my sins, and to trust in Him alone for the forgiveness of sins. They explained to me what the Bible said about salvation and how I was a sinner in need of a Savior. I wanted to ask Jesus to come into my heart more than anything else in the world! So, after my parents realized that I truly understood what it meant to be a Christian, they led me in a simple prayer of faith and I asked Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and my Lord. From that moment on, the King of Kings has taken up residence in my heart and my life has never been the same! I knew that it was God calling me into salvation with Himself that night when I saw that bright light on my ceiling. And I responded to His call by accepting His free gift of grace through faith, knowing that it was His grace alone that saved and forgave me. Jesus came into my life and saved me and changed me and continues to change me more and more each day. I am confident that God gave me His Holy Spirit on that day I accepted Jesus as my Lord and that one day I will be with my Father in heaven! My testimony is one of redemption and purpose: God saved me and called me into a relationship with Himself through His Son Jesus so that He can use me to glorify His name!

Accepting and believing in Jesus was only the beginning! Ever since then, it’s been quite a ride with the Lord. Each day He conforms me into the image of His likeness and each day I surrender in hopes of becoming more like Him. When I was in middle school, the Lord revealed Himself to me yet again in a very real way. I was on a youth ski trip and the Lord showed me that it was time I got serious about my faith. Up until that point, my faith was fairly elementary, but in middle school, God lit a fire in my heart and I rededicated my life to Him and His will. That was when He gave me a deep hunger for His Word. I immediately wanted to go to Africa and be a missionary. My parents weren’t too keen on the idea, however.

During high school I lost a little bit of my focus and faith. I started to think that true life was found in popularity, good grades, being the best in sports, and making sure everyone liked me. I started to stray from my first love. Then came the summer of 2000. It was the summer before I was to go off to Texas A&M University to become a teacher and a coach. That summer I was a counselor at a camp and the second day of camp proved to be a turning point in my life and my faith. That day I witnessed a boy drown under my watch. Not only did he drown, but after much fervent prayer on my part and belief that God would heal him, the boy died right in front of my eyes. This definitely shook me and it became the defining point of my faith. Thanks to the Lord and His revelation to me of His sovereignty, I was able to grow in spite of that traumatic situation. It was during that trial that my faith truly became real and it became my own. Another event that is worthy of including in this testimony is when the Lord called me to break an engagement. As you can imagine, this was extremely difficult for me. However, it was during this tribulation that the Lord truly revealed to me that He and He alone was my one true Love. Though this event caused me lots of pain, I’m thankful for the valley that God allowed me to be in because that is when I grew the most.

So why am I including all of this into my testimony? I’m glad you asked! (Even if you really didn’t!) I wanted to include not only my conversion experience, but also the events that have made me who I am today because my testimony has been a journey. I would not trade any of it for the finest things in the world, for I know now beyond a shadow of a doubt that God has had me in His perfectly capable hands and that He is making me into the woman He desires. He is God and He is good and I AM HIS!!!
